A long-delayed magnetic disk drive promised writable storage, expansion, and online creativity.

The 64DD attached beneath Nintendo 64 and used proprietary writable disks. Its Randnet service and Mario Artist software explored online sharing and user-generated content, but the add-on sold in limited numbers.
