Sega’s 16-bit flagship paired fast arcade-style games with a bold worldwide identity.

The Mega Drive launched in Japan in 1988 and reached North America as the Genesis in 1989. Model 2 and licensed budget revisions followed, but CD combination systems and handheld descendants are cataloged separately.
