Compact top-loading revisions gave Nintendo’s 8-bit hardware a simpler, more reliable final form.

Nintendo refreshed the Famicom and NES with small top-loading designs. Japan’s AV Famicom added composite output, while North America’s New-Style NES used a similar rounded shell.
