Famicom Disk System

A disk-drive add-on enabled larger games, save data, and inexpensive rewritable releases.

Mounted beneath the Famicom, the Disk System used proprietary double-sided disks. It hosted early versions of The Legend of Zelda and Metroid and supported Nintendo’s in-store Disk Writer network.
