Catalog provenance

Open data and sources

Updated August 7, 2026

Barcode verification

PLAYBACK accepts a barcode only when its GS1 checksum is valid and the source identifies the same physical title and platform as the catalog record. Digital downloads, accessories, ambiguous matches, and conflicting mappings are rejected.

Nudger / Open4Good

Part of the barcode layer contains information from Nudger/Open4Good’s GTIN dataset, offered under the Open Database License 1.0. PLAYBACK attributes that source and makes its derived open-data barcode subset available under the same license.

RF Generation

North American package mappings may cite an item-level RF Generation record. PLAYBACK accepts these mappings only when the record identifies the exact title, platform, North American region, physical media format, and checksum-valid UPC together. The source URL remains attached to the barcode for review.

Download the open subset

Download the PLAYBACK open barcode subset as CSV. The download contains catalog identifiers, titles, platforms, documented regions, and source URLs—never collector accounts or private collection data.

Corrections

If a package scans incorrectly, please send the exact barcode and a clear photo of the package through the private contact form.
